It
is impossible to evoke the story of Dhagpo
Kagyu Ling without mentioning Lama Purtsela. He was originally
the Umze, the master in charge of performing rituals, at Dhagpo.
It
is largely thanks to Lama Purtsela that the Western lamas are
now able to perform these rituals. He taught us how to chant
and celebrate the pujas, using skilled methods of teaching known
only to himself!
For
years he remained in semi-retreat and accumulated millions of
manis; he continues to practice with the same enthusiasm today.
One
of the pillars of the center, he has the capacity of putting
everyone at ease when things are too tense, and he knows when
to pull hard on the reins and bring people back to the right
attitude when things are beginning to get too dispersed.
Those
who were trained by him know how skilled he is at creating situations
in which our emotions suddenly become clearer to us. We owe
him so very much.We are very lucky to have encountered someone
like him.
